    Upton, MA

Donald F. Carey, 90, of Upton, died Friday, May 23, 2014 in the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence in Worcester after an illness. He was the husband of Edith (Merrill) Carey.

Mr. Carey was born in Malden, one of seven sons of the late George and Florence (Robson) Carey. Educated in Malden schools, he continued his education at a technical school and was a World War II Army veteran who served with the Infantry and Combat Engineers in Europe and then attained the rank of Sergeant with the Army Air Corps. He had also served with the Merchant Marines.

A draftsman and designer, he retired in 1990 from Prime Computer. He was a resident of Upton since 1964 and a member of the United Parish of Upton. A talented soloist, he had also studied at the New England Conservatory.

In addition to his wife of 68 years, he leaves one daughter, Catherine Jette and her husband Jean-Guy of Pepperell; two sons, Clifford Carey and his wife Tracy of Upton and Andrew Carey of Whitinsville; and three grandchildren, Jasmine, Lauren, and Hunter. He was the brother of the late Clyde, George, Leslie, Stanley, Alan, and Dale Carey.

If desired, the family suggests memorial donations to the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence, 1183 Main St., Worcester, MA 01608.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29, at 11 a.m. in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.

Burial with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.

A calling hour at the funeral home will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday.
