RUTLAND - Robert E. Ackerman, (Fuffa), 88, of Rutland, passed away peacefully and gained his angel wings joining his loving wife, Dorothy "Muffa" on, Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Strasburg, VA, under the loving care of his family and the staff at Reflections of Strasburg in Virginia.

Robert was born and raised in Worcester the son of the late Elmer T. and Doris (Sahlen) Ackerman and lived 30 years in Rutland before recently moving to his son Gary's home 14 months ago in Winchester, Virginia. A very special time and honor for both our Father and son, Gary. His loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy L. (Hulten) Ackerman, "Muffa" died in 2007.
Robert leaves two sons, Gary M. Ackerman and his partner, Linda Britt of Winchester, VA and Robert V. Ackerman and his wife, Sandra of Rutland; five grandchildren, Robert V. Ackerman Jr. and his partner, Jhonny Eca-Ackerman, Meagan, Linnea, Leif and Lukas Ackerman; three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Joseph Ackerman-Strong and Mikaela Ackerman; besides his parents his was predeceased by his sister, Louise Duncan.

Robert was a graduate of Worcester Industrial Technical Institute and worked at Norton Company, Heald Machine Tool, Auburn Industrial Tool Grinding and was later the electrical inspector for the town of Rutland for 15 years. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Navy in WWII. He was truly a family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They lovingly referred to him as "Fuffa," and always knew that they came first in his heart.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Fuffa's family from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, September 9, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
Interment will be held privately at All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester at a later date.
